Internal Family Systems

One of the key tools within Chinese medicine is to simply listen. When a patient enters the treatment room, I sit with them, I ask a few questions and most importantly — I listen. I listen to their story, I listen to their voice, I also listen for what they are not saying. I listen with my Heart and I seek what will best support them that day.

As a Licensed Acupuncturist, I am also trained in the foundations of Internal Family Systems, or IFS. I am “IFS-informed,” not officially certified under their training parameters. (This will come in time.)

Quoted from the IFS website:

“IFS is a transformative, evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal by accessing and loving their protective and wounded inner parts. We believe the mind is naturally multiple and that is a good thing. Just like members of a family, inner parts are forced from their valuable states into extreme roles within us. We also all have a core Self.

Self is in everyone. It can’t be damaged. It knows how to heal.

By helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts, IFS creates inner and outer connectedness.” IFS website here.

I hold space for my patients, I listen and I help them find what is preventing them from flourishing. Through their own experiencing, they can find where they are stuck in life and their bodies know exactly what they need. At the visit, we inquire: what aspect of Self is willing to let go, just a bit, so their true nature, or true Self can step in and be the captain of their ship. We ask what is needed for their light to shine more brightly.

Guided Somatic Experiencing

Somatic Experiencing is a body-centered approach to treating PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) that, rather than focusing only on thoughts or emotions associated with a traumatic event, expands to include the natural bodily (somatic) responses. It was first conceptualized by trauma therapist Dr. Peter Levine in the 1970s and in the years since it has come to be considered a leading-edge therapy for PTSD, with over 12,000 healing professionals trained.

Healthyline Mat Therapy

5-In-1 Heat & Light Therapies For Your Abundant Health

HealthyLine makes and sells far infrared rays (FIR) heated mats embedded with natural gemstones.

HealthyLine also offers products with Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF), Negative Ions, Photon Light Therapy, as well as Magnetic Therapy. At Lumen, I offer all of these therapies (except magnet therapies) with the TAJ Mat Full Pro PLUS 7428 Firm - Photon PEMF InfraMat Pro®

Far Infrared Rays (FIR)

FIR is effective through its ability to penetrate up to 1.5 inches (4cm) beneath the surface of the skin, to reach our muscle and tissue layers. It stimulates our circulatory system, and promotes accelerated oxygenation throughout our bodies. Healing rates improve as the dispersion of nutrients increases.

FIR therapy is good for relieving arthritis, lower back pain, nerve repair, and other types of aches. When used to manage such chronic pains, people often report a decrease in discomfort, winter-time stiffness, and significant relaxation. It also stimulates white blood cell growth, which is important for a healthy immune system.

PEMF Therapy

Pulsed Electro Magnetic Frequencies (PEMF) is used in hospitals for bone healing purposes, and is FDA approved. It is non-invasive, and heals your body at a cellular level. It emits an electrical frequency that mimics that of the earth, and ‘tunes’ our body to its natural biorhythm. HealthyLine’s PEMF Inframat Pro has a frequency of 7.8hZ, which is the same as that emitted by the earth.

There are some good studies on the benefits of PEMF when used to manage pain which originates from rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, depression and other chronic illnesses. Research also shows that PEMF treatment can help to reduce muscle spasms and neck pain in osteoarthritis patients, and also increase their range of motion.

Negative Ions

You can find negative ions in abundance within natural environments such as waterfalls, beaches and mountains. They have no scent or taste, and are invisible to the human eye, yet cause positive reactions when they enter our bloodstream. While sealed off from many modern indoor environments, your shower is a good place to get some! It is a contributing factor for that invigorating burst of energy.

Photon Light Therapy

Phototherapy is a form of light therapy, with ‘photons’ as the unit of measurement. The red light is visible at a wavelength of 660 nanometers, and penetrates just below the surface of your skin. Photon light therapy requires direct exposure to your skin, and thus works well when used in conjunction with hot stone therapy.

The most common use for light therapy at present is in the field of skincare, to improve both acne and overall skin health. Light therapy affects your cells at a molecular level, and works from the inside out to produce noticeable changes on the surface of your skin. It can aid with inflammation and edema (fluid retention) as well.

Apart from skincare, it may also help relieve depression, promote wound healing, and improve nerve regeneration. Research is ongoing, with exciting discoveries being made on the many benefits of light therapy.

Gemstone Therapy

In addition to the therapies listed above, HealthyLine offers gemstones crushed into fine particles embedded within the mats. There are a few different types to choose from depending on what you’re looking for. While there is currently no conclusive evidence and therefore isn’t used in modern medicine, gemstones have a long history in healing purposes.

You can look at gemstones as ‘conductors’ that boost emission of FIR and negative ions, when used in conjunction with these therapies. HealthyLine offers mats with amethyst, jade, tourmaline and obsidian, and you can read more about these gemstones here.
